The Britax Roundabout 55 is a convertible type of seat. It’s designed to be used at first in the rear facing position for a child weighing between 5 and 40 pounds. It can then be converted to front facing where it can safely accommodate a child over 1 year weighing from 20 to 55 pounds and up to 46 inches in height.
(4.7 / 5)
The Roundabout 55 has now been replaced by a newer model, the Roundabout G4.1.
The Roundabout 55 uses Britax SafeCell™ Technology, comprised of cells built into the seat that compress in the event of an accident and thereby reduce the forces acting on your child to propel them forward. Steel bars also increase the rigidity offering more protection and preventing flexing. An energy absorbing versa-tether attachment also helps to slow down forward movement of the seat by releasing in stages rather than all at once to act as a brake on forward motion.
The Roundabout 55 also features Side Impact Protection which relies upon the rigid shell of the seat and deep padded side walls to work effectively. This provides protection for your child’s head and body by distributing crash forces away from your child during an accident.
The 5–point harness is a tangle-free type that aims to prevent twisting during use. The harness is also fully adjustable so that you can get your child seated comfortably with the minimum amount of fuss.
There is an Infant Positioning Insert available for this model but this is only available by ordering separately and does not come included.
Britax USA, the manufacturer, offers a 1 year limited warranty and the Roundabout is also certified as suitable for use during airline travel.
The covers come in several attractive designs including, Gumdrop, Isabella and Silverlake and can be removed for cleaning by carefully following the manufacturer’s instructions.
